Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Pewaukee, Wisconsin
Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Specialist in the Utilities/Infrastructure industry, based in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. This role primarily involves managing accounts payable, analyzing workflow processes, building vendor relationships, ensuring timely and accurate payments, and performing other administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable using accounting software and other programs, which includes handling invoices, verifying their accuracy, and ensuring timely payments to vendors
• Handle accounts payable for separate entities and vendors, working with various entities and vendors to process payments efficiently
• Analyze workflow processes to assess existing processes and identify areas for improvement to streamline operations
• Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors, which is essential for smooth payment processing
• Ensure bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures to avoid financial discrepancies
• Process due invoices for payments, managing the payment cycle for outstanding invoices
• Compare purchase orders, prices, terms of payment, and other charges to verify that invoices match purchase orders and other relevant details
• Process transactions and perform accounting duties, which includes account maintenance, recording entries, and reconciling books of accounts
• Handle weekly employee expense reporting
• Undertake other duties such as annual state registrations/renewals, IRP and IFTA reporting, and other administrative tasks
• Manage Sales and Use tax reporting and compliance

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) is crucial.

• Ability to perform Coding Invoices is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary.
• Experience in Vendor Management is a must.
• Ability to perform Check Runs is required.
• Experience in managing Expense Reports is necessary.
• A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
• Applicant must have problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
• Applicant must have strong multitasking abilities and can work under pressure.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations is a plus.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and carry out assignments that are sensitive in nature.
