We are currently seeking to fill our Director of Annual Giving position at the Philadelphia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Director of Annual Giving (DAG) is responsible for supporting the funding priorities of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting alumni, employees, friends and prospective donors. The DAG manages activities to support the pipeline of annual gifts under $10,000. This position will lead the strategy and messaging of all annual giving communications and programming, by developing a robust calendar of solicitations to increase dollars and donor participation to achieve unit goals and contribute to overall fundraising goals. The DAG shall also be actively engaged in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of prospective donors to make gifts between $1,000 and $10,000 and achieve personal fundraising goals.

The DAG supervises the Annual Giving Officer position(s) and reports to the Chief Development and Alumni Engagement Officer. They work independently and also as members of the Institutional Advancement (IA) team. They collaborate their activities with those of other units in Institutional Advancement and with other units at PCOM.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: *Devise strategy, create, and provide direction for implementation of unit operational plan for each fiscal year for all annual giving initiatives aimed at increasing donor participation and cash gifts. *Oversee the coordination of multiple solicitation channels including, but not limited to, direct mail, email, texting, giving days, crowdfunding, and phone campaigns. * Oversee management of the strategy and execution of annual giving direct mail and electronic solicitation campaigns which includes, but is not limited to, determining effective segmentation, creating and writing content, securing necessary approvals, and working with campus partners and vendors on processing and distribution. *Oversee all aspects of PCOM Together, the College's employee giving campaign including, but not limited to, identifying, cultivating, and soliciting PCOM employees for gifts in support of the College's funding priorities. *Devise, schedule, organize, and execute targeted campaigns such as brick pavers, donor display board, reunion giving, young alumni, and class giving. *Manage a portfolio of alumni and employee prospects, ensuring strategies towards solicitation through regular interactions using personal or virtual visits, mail/email, telephone, and other activities. *Assume and achieve annual fundraising and activity goals as specified in the performance expectations document attached. *Partner and collaborate regularly with development team so as to effectively move engaged onors/prospects through the fundraising pipeline (annual giving to major/planned giving). *Work collaboratively with other Institutional Advancement areas. *Attend and assist with Institutional Advancement events and activities as needed. *Maintain current and relevant knowledge of new initiatives, best practices, and innovative opportunities in annual giving. *Collaborate with the Alumni Association fundraising committee. *Other duties as assigned and/or requested.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: *Bachelor's degree required *Preference of 5-7 years of experience in annual giving preferably within higher education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: *Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential donors. *Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and an ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle. *Outstanding verbal, written, communication, listening, and organizational skill. *Ability to effectively utilize technology including, but not limited to, Salesforce, Blackbaud, Pardot, and iModules. *Knowledge of IRS and FASB laws, rules, and regulations is preferred along with thorough knowledge of fundraising and solicitation best practices, policies, procedures, and method. *Ability to work some weekends and evenings.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A driver's license is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

*Portfolio Management oStrategic approach to portfolio penetration: organize time in and out of office to maximize involvement with assigned prospects and manage program priorities; focus on scheduling qualification meetings with maximum number of assigned prospects. oContact report processing: submit for entry in compliance with stated guidelines; provide detailed account of interaction; minimize superfluous information; advise of recommended capacity rating changes; include research information. oProposal preparation and submission completed in compliance with stated guidelines. *Project Management oStrategic management of various activities for annual giving, including but not limited to: direct mail planning, preparation, and execution; faculty/staff program planning and execution; writing and designing content for solicitation pieces, flyers, e-blasts, and email; support of department events; and securing visits with prospects. *Budget Management oEfficiency of travel and entertainment: adherence to University and Institutional Advancement policies; maximize time focused on prospect visits. oExpense reporting and reconciliation: trip-related expense reports submitted in compliance with stated guidelines. oWork closely with the Institutional Advancement Manager to successfully track and manage all annual giving-related budget expenses.
