Summary:
- The Buyer is responsible for supporting the Perioperative Materials Department and Clinical Departments with sourcing and requisitioning goods and services in accordance with Pennsylvania Hospital purchasing policies and procedures. The buyer will identify alternative products for clinical review in the event of a backorder or discontinuation and serves as the subject matter expert for requisitioning throughout campus.
Responsibilities:
Processes purchasing requests for medical and surgical supplies, equipment, and services
Corresponds with vendors regarding backorders, outstanding invoices, and expediting orders
Creates blanket, standing, and service orders accurately and communicates specifics to end users
Negotiates pricing on behalf of Pennsylvania Hospital for disposable medical and surgical supplies
Ensures purchases are in line with Pennsylvania Hospital’s policies and contracts
Serves as a subject matter expert and trainer for the requisitioning process at Pennsylvania Hospital
Documents processes and provides training on requisitioning of items throughout campus
Manages the purchasing process for vendor consignment items
Compiles the monthly accrual report for Finance and Materials Management
Fosters relationships with requestors, clinical staff, and key stakeholders and anticipates needs
Provides analytical support to aid in decision making for supply levels
Works with the Perioperative Manager to identify and submit items for the item master
Assists in the development and implementation of new processes and metrics
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED and 2+ years Inventory Experience in a Healthcare Setting required.
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or Related Field preferred.
