IAG is a worldwide function with 200 team members and offices across nine countries within American Express. We are committed to growing our audit staff significantly as we continue to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group. Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Most IAG team members hold at least one professional certification. Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.

Senior Manager – IAG Regulatory Relations

This role is for a key member of the Professional Practices team and will report to the Director, Regulatory Relations. The selected individual will interact with Internal Audit Group Management and maintain a network of key business partners inside and outside of IAG (e.g. Regulatory Exam Management and Regulatory Relations, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Involved in the end-to-end regulatory exam management process including tracking, drafting responses, and compiling supporting evidence

  • Frequent collaboration and communication with key stakeholders including Regulators, Regulatory Exam Management and audit teams to assist these key stakeholders in accomplishing meeting objectives, requests and producing quality results on time

  • Organize and facilitate meetings with regulators by setting the agenda, creating content, and ensuring the materials meet regualtor obejctives.

  • Collaborate with the MRA remediaition response team to develop a project plan and response letter to address corrective actions

  • Develop and produce content for monthly management reporting and committee reporting related to regulatory metrics

  • Proficient use of automated audit work papers, reports, and other department and company tools

  • Assist with developing and providing training on regulatory best practices and reporting related topics

  • Effectively coach, teach, mentor and develop less experienced colleagues as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience

  • BA, BS or equivalent degree in accounting, information systems, legal or finance related field

  • Understanding of accounting and financial industry guidance and best practices relevant to the business, including technology and data implications.

  • Understanding of regulatory expectations and experience preparing for regulator meetings and examinations.

  • Aptitude for working with data, interpreting results, business intelligence and analytics best practices

  • Experience with data analytic tools, data visualization, key risk indicators (KRIs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and scorecards / dashboards

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Effectively works independently within a team and across teams in a fast-paced environment to drive business results, utilizing related project management skills, attention to detail and quality, and the ability to work on competing priorities

  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a highly deadline-intensive environment is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years of relevant experience

  • Financial services industry experience and an understanding of related products, services, features, economics and key regulations

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
