*Where You Will Work  *

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, and more. Our flexible work program allows employees to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Employees can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the position shift to in-person (office/site) work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time, so long as the position meets the established eligibility for these benefits.

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical advice and guidance for assigned electrical engineering projects.

  • Assist Senior Engineer in developing Electrical Engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls and protection of the environment.

  • Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects

  • Manage small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects, and assists the Senior Engineer on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion or modifications

  • Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment

  • Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment

  • Assist the Senior Engineer in contributing to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas

  • Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests

  • May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams

  • Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Electrical Engineering with an understanding of Mechanical and Process Engineering techniques

  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Familiarity and some experience in Electronics, PLCs, and Control Systems

  • Skill in managing small to medium Engineering projects

  • Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification

  • Experience with or classes related to Power Systems Engineering

  • Experience with Power System Modeling software such as SKM, eTAP, etc.

  • Familiarity with industrial AC and DC motors, VFD’s and plant instrumentation

  • Familiarity with powerline layout, engineering and construction

  • Familiarity with MV power systems

  • Leadership and construction / mining experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of NEC & NFPA70E Regulations

  • Familiarity with designing Power, Instrumentation and Controls Systems

  • Experience with ETAP and AutoCAD or similar software for design

  • Self-motivated with excellent work ethic

  • Proficiency in MS Office

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently  $87,000-$121,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance.  Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration.  Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements.  More details will be shared during the hiring process.  Click here to view a sample of Total Rewards Estimate for this role.
