Honeywell Test Engineer II in Phoenix, Arizona

Aero Test is a group of engineers and technicians within Engines & Power Systems’ Engineering Test Services (ETS) organization. We plan and execute gas turbine engine component, sub-assembly and core engine tests for all Propulsion engines and Auxiliary Power Units (APUs). We are currently supporting new gas turbine engine technology development and test Facility Upgrades. We are leading and supporting various Engineering Transformation initiatives focused on delivering the data our customers need under accelerated schedules.

The Test Engineer II will lead test coordination, program test estimates, facility design and capital projects for one or more product lines. You will be accountable for the preparation, coordination, and execution of Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) Aero test requests – quality data being the key deliverable to our customers. Additionally, you will lead facility and test equipment design and maintenance for a wide variety of components, sub-assembly or core engine test programs/projects.

You will work within Test Services with a wide variety of stakeholders in all aspects of test facility design and maintenance, test equipment design, configuration and upkeep, test planning and test execution. An Engineer in this role will leverage their knowledge of engineering processes, discipline, and tools to estimate, plan and execute tasks and projects related to the development of Honeywell engines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for technical decision making, including, without limitation, coordinating technical requirements with customers, and advising leadership and customers on all technical aspects and issues to achieve all technical requirements

  • Reviews technical content, technical commitments, and associated cost and schedule for all proposals or change orders (internal or external)

  • Drive upgrades and maintenance of Engineering Test Services facilities and equipment to maximize facility and equipment uptime while optimizing return on investment

  • Coordinate with peer groups and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) regarding improvement and utilization of shared resources (people, equipment, and facilities)

  • Onsite work schedule

  • Travel: up to 10% (US/International)

  • Reports to: Test Eng Manager

  • Relocation support may be provided

MUST HAVE

  • 1+ years Engineering (Mechanical, Test, Project) and/or Test experience (hands-on)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

WE VALUE

  • Aero component, sub-assembly, gas turbine engine test experience

  • Strong background and experience in defining a test program plan to achieve development risk reduction, safety of flight test requirements and qualification test requirements within budget and schedule constraints

  • Experience with Gas Turbine Components and sub-assembly Test Facilities and equipment required to operate them

  • Experience with Control Systems, especially facility control system and transient behaviors of test systems

  • Demonstrated ability to execute quickly under strict schedule constraints while still achieving technical objectives

  • Background in requirements management, validation, and verification

  • Earned value management (EVMS) to government contracting standards

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA) and Technology Readiness Level (TRL)

  • Comfortable working on many projects at the same time

  • Able to identify the critical few issues on any effort and drive them to resolution to assure success

  • Skilled change agent with proven ability to drive transformational/cultural improvement and results
