The University Store at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a dedicated and customer-service oriented Assistant Buyer/Floor Supervisor to join our team. This role involves overseeing the sales floor and supervising the sales floor team, as well as handling customer service inquiries. As a vital member of our team, the Assistant Buyer/Floor Supervisor will address customer questions and issues, manage visual merchandising on the sales floor, and assist the General Merchandise Manager with purchasing across all general merchandise categories. Additionally, this position includes responsibilities for opening and closing the store regularly and working rotating events/weekends.

Core Responsibilities: Cultivate retail business opportunities through current and new internal and external partnerships. Drive excellent, customer-focused service to patrons assisting staff members with customers as needed. Assist with regular and special orders of general merchandise, departmental purchases, purchase orders, inventory preparation, online orders, product placement on website receiving and problems that may occur. Oversee front-facing staff, including coaching and mentoring staff members as well as providing appropriate performance feedback. Attends trade shows and conferences to source products. Duties include occasional weekends and shared responsibility for opening and closing the stores. Guide in-store merchandise placement and displays. Manage product assortment including product choice, sourcing, and purchasing as well as price point and margin controls. Approving Utilize technology and data analytics-Oracle, ARC, Dashboard, Retail Orbit, etc.-to drive Store success. Work with the Marketing & Communications Specialist to ensure product placement on the web site. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. 3-5 years of experience in apparel buying and working in a retail environment. Retail supervisory experience highly desired. Visual merchandising experience preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Requirements: Successful background check Ability to obtain Pennsylvania Act 153 clearances.
