Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Mastery: Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in line with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Insightful Reporting: Develop comprehensive financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.

  • Advanced Analysis: Perform complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of reported data.

  • Leadership Role: Manage and mentor a team of financial analysts, fostering growth and excellence.

  • Data Interpretation: Analyze intricate financial data, extracting and defining relevant information to interpret past performance and project future financial probabilities.

  • Decision Support: Interpret financial transactions and events to aid users in making informed economic or business decisions.

  • Cost Studies: Plan and conduct detailed studies to determine the cost of business activities, recommending budget adjustments and cost improvement measures.

  • Budget Coordination: Oversee and assist in coordinating the UPMC system-wide budgeting process.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related business field required.

  • Minimum of five years of related work experience required

  • or A Master's degree or CPA license and four years of experience will also be considered

  • or High School Diploma/GED and seven years of related work experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in forecasting financial operations and budgeting experience required.

  • CPA/MBA preferred.

  • Experience in the health care industry preferred.

  • Prior experience leading/supervising staff preferred.

  • Ability to interact effectively with executives and business unit management required.

  • Excellent oral and written communications and time management skills are required.

  • Strong analytical ability and knowledge of accounting and financial reporting matters required.

  • Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency required.

  • PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.

  • Knowledge of system operations preferred.
