Post Doctoral Associate - Chemistry Chemistry - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24003680)
We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral experimentalist to work Prof. Sean Garrett-Roe on DOE Award for studying ultrafast dynamics of CO2 in polymerized ionic liquid membranes. This project will test the mechanism of CO2 using cutting-edge experimental techniques to interrogate the intermolecular interactions and local solvation structures. The project will be highly collaborative in nature, providing the measurement link between the synthesis and theory executed by collaborators.
On any given day, you will:
Operate ultrafast laser systems and 2D-IR spectroscopy
Analyze and interpret experimental results in collaboration with theory and synthetic collaborators and document findings in peer-reviewed publications
Assist with sample preparation and characterization
You will be expected to publish research in high-profile peer-reviewed scientific journals and present results at national and international conferences.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, materials science, or other relevant fields
Experience with femtosecond amplified laser systems, nonlinear optics, and related instrumentation
Experience interpreting ultrafast spectroscopic measurements
Ability to write peer-reviewed publications, evidenced by a strong publication record
Desired Qualifications
Strong background in ultrafast dynamics in the condensed phase
Experience with ultrafast infrared spectroscopy such as 2D-IR or transient absorption
Demonstrated ability to address complex problems creatively, and to work effectively both independently and in a team
Experience with MATLAB, Python, and related software
