JOB SUMMARY: The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate records of a company\'s inventory by tracking stock levels, performing physical counts, and resolving discrepancies, ensuring optimal stock availability while minimizing overstocking and understocking within a warehouse or distribution center; they typically work with inventory management systems to monitor and control the flow of goods ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Regularly monitor inventory levels across all products using inventory management systems to identify stock shortages or excesses. Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, inspect for damages, and update inventory records upon receipt. Conduct physical inventory counts periodically to ensure the accuracy of system records and identify discrepancies. Maintain detailed inventory records, including product details, location, expiration dates, and serial numbers. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including damaged goods, missing items, or inaccurate counts. Implement and maintain proper storage practices within the warehouse to optimize space utilization and accessibility. Generate inventory reports to inform purchasing decisions, including stock status, reorder points, and sales trends. Receive materials into stock and verify quantities, part numbers, and documentation accuracy Prepare necessary documentation for parts and products being sent to vendors Pack and prepare (box, palletize, package, and load) items for shipment Respond to co-worker\'s requests for parts and supplies in a timely manner Work with production and purchasing to ensure inventory is at satisfactory levels Submit purchase requests to the purchasing department Maintain all department equipment Process daily paperwork and work order logs Issue parts and supplies to coworkers Prepare bills of laden for vendor shipments and deliveries Review work orders and prepare kits for production departments Organize, store, and manage stock located in the stockroom as well as on the production floor Complete all documentation, including inspection sheets, certificates, and receipts, applying signatures as appropriate Undertake relevant training and development as required Carry out requisitions within a realistic timeline, ensuring that deadlines are met ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Report and follow up on returns and credit requests with the Purchasing Department Deliver and pick up merchandise, parts, and supplies as needed Sweep, clean, and empty trash bins within the stockroom daily Assist periodic physical inventory of all parts and related inventory Assist outside sales via telephone calls, providing part support, preparing sales orders and shipping merchandise Offer new ideas to streamline departmental procedures Adhere to and carry out existing work practices, procedures, and policies Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies Other duties as assigned INTERACTION WITH: Purchasing Department Production Department Numerous levels of internal staff within a variety of departments Customer and vendor interaction required EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years inventory control experience EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED equivalent CERTIFICATIONS: Forklift certified preferred Valid driver\'s license required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Computer literate Analytical Skills Communication Skills Microsoft Office Suite Excellent listening skills Take and understand measurements Ability to follow directions Ability to maintain focus Meet deadlines Basic math skills required (add, subtract, divide, and multiply) Reading abilities required (drawings) Ability to write Follow safety and materials policies and procedures Attention to detail PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to pass physical exam Ability to lift a minimum
