JPMorgan Chase Data Scientist in Plano, Texas

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Support end-to-end analytics throughout the payments lifecycle, including support of Merchant Services Risk Strategy by collaborating across business functions to identify and remediate key financial, credit, fraud, and reputational risks. Interpret large amounts of complex data to formulate problem statements, build analytical frameworks using SAS/SQL and SAS/Macros, and report programming. Maintain health-check reports utilizing existing data elements and identifying key gaps. Propose solutions to maintain an audit-ready function at all times. Provide risk-based profit and loss explanations using the firm's proprietary risk reporting tools. Ensure controlled growth by working within the firm's risk appetite thresholds and considering regulatory guidelines to maintain a sound control environment. Identify business opportunities, create risk strategies using various data analytics toolkits, and communicate findings to senior management. Monitor any internal discrepancies of strategy driven decisions. Track and provide key profile, profit and loss, and operational performance metrics for senior management review.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Data Scientist, Analytics Associate, Data Analytics, Decision/Strategic Analyst, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Data Scientist, Analytics Associate, Data Analytics, Decision/Strategic Analyst, or related occupation.

Skills Required: Requires experience in the following: analyzing large quantities of data using SQL and SAS; utilizing analytics functions and capabilities in Excel including PivotTables, Excel functions; monitoring and communicating trends in performance strategies; developing data trending processes to track variances in data; conducting analytics, creating reports, and improving business and reporting processes; using data analytics to analyze and design end-to-end development and management of business strategies; and managing multiple projects.

Job Location: 8181 Communications Pkwy, Plano, TX 75024. Telecommuting permitted up to 40% of the week.
