JPMorgan Chase Software Engineer III - Java Automation Test Engineer in Plano, Texas

As of Software Engineer III - Java Automation Test Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Commercial Banking, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Our team builds modern responsive web applications and services tailored to meet the needs of our Commercial Clients. We work in a Continuous Delivery model and the Test Engineer is a leader in the test automation that ensures that quality. The Java Automation Test Engineer will work with development teams to plan, write and execute test scenarios. These tests will span both UI and service tests. They will contribute and maintain automated tests and frameworks to ensure feature quality and provide feedback and analysis on failures for new functionality and regression testing. They will identify, track and validate defects. They will identify, innovate and implement solutions to improve testing practices and methodologies.

Job responsibilities

  • Author complete and quality tests in code using tools like CypressJS or Selenium

  • Report results and analyze causes

  • Lead developers in writing their own tests and code review developer authored tests

  • Participate in design sessions with fellow programmers, business analysts, and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution

  • Contribute and collaborate in creation and consumption of open, standards-based solutions, while working with existing JPMorgan technologies and infrastructure

  • Identify opportunities for process and tool improvements and drive those from concept to implementation

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems

  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems

  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture

  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience

  • Experience in the IT Industry with strong test automation experience

  • Hands on practical experience in End to End testing suites like Selenium, CypressJS or Puppeteer on enterprise applications

  • Ability to automate test against backend API calls and database validations

  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo and TeamCity

  • Experience working with cloud deployments using AWS, Azure, or CloudFoundry

  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages

  • Exposure to web technologies (e.g. HTTP, XML, REST, HTML, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently, plan, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment

  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies

  • Exposure to cloud technologies

  • Experience with Accessibility Testing (ADA Testing Web)
