JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: The Department of Residence Life at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking applicants for a Resident Area Director. This position is part of the administrative leadership of the residence life program that serves 3,000 students in eleven residence halls. This position has responsibilities related to Residence Life supervision of student and shared supervision of professional staff, camps and conferences, issues education, student conduct, and serving as administrative liaison to the Residence Hall Association/NRHH. The position will involve some night and weekend commitments. The Resident Area Director position is a live-off campus position reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life. With the responsibility of supervision of several residence halls, there is a requirement to live locally. There is an option for a live-on campus apartment for a nominal monthly rental payment. Responsibilities: Supervises the day-to-day activities of students and professional staff and assist with the personnel management allocation plan including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation. Plans, implements, and evaluates student programs and initiatives for residence life. Serves as a main point of contact for resident support providing mediation and resolution of personal and facility issues. Directs the overall management and operation of assigned residence halls. Serves as hearing officer for initial and second offense conduct issues from perspective halls. Directs the administrative aspects of the Summer Camps and Conferences program. Directs developmental strategies for addressing issues related to the residence hall population in collaboration with the Associate Director. Works closely with the Assistant Resident Directors and Senior Assistants in community development planning and implementation. Serves as a resource regarding hall issues and concerns, departmental policies, procedures, facilities, and referral regarding university departments and services. Coordinates emergency response procedures (e.g. medical/personal concerns, fire alarms, threatening weather situations, and urgent maintenance needs).
