Actalent Analytical Chemist in Plymouth, Michigan

Job Title: Analytical ChemistJob Description

As an Analytical Chemist, you will provide technical capabilities to support the business objectives of the lead centers. Your duties will include participation in specific material, process and product development projects as required. You will develop appropriate relationships with customers, vendors, and technical and trade organizations, and effectively interface with our multi-national lead centers. Your knowledge of rubber (or plastic) formulation design, material testing, and rubber (or plastic) mixing will be essential in this role. Furthermore, you should possess a working knowledge of rubber fabrication, molding and extrusion methods and types, compound attributes as they relate to processing and specific design function/performance, surface chemistry including bonding to metallic and non-metallic substrates, and tooling technology associated with injection, compression and transfer molding.

Hard Skills

  • Knowledge of rubber (or plastic) formulation design

  • Material testing

  • Rubber (or plastic) mixing

  • Knowledge of surface chemistry relative to adhesion

  • Knowledge of rubber fabrication, molding and extrusion methods and types

  • Knowledge of compound attributes as they relate to processing

  • Knowledge of compound attributes as they relate to specific design function/performance

  • Knowledge of surface chemistry including bonding to metallic and non-metallic substrates

  • Knowledge of tooling technology associated with injection, compression and transfer molding

  • GC

  • HPLC

  • NMR

  • FTIR

  • SEM/EDS

Soft Skills

  • Ability to interface effectively with multi-national lead centers

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Plymouth, Michigan.
