Buhler Inc. Project Manager - Automation in Plymouth, Minnesota

Buhler Inc. seeks a full-time Project Manager - Automation based in Plymouth, MN. This position develops, implements, and manages automation projects and plays an integral part in leading the engineering team to meet customer expectations. Specific duties include: 1) Manage and lead a cross-functional team of automation engineers in Scrum methodology, build and manage backlogs to ensure that the team is working on the highest priority items that align with the project goals (cost, schedule, quality, and Environmental Health & Safety) and customer needs. Work closely with the engineering team to prioritize and refine backlog items, as well as review and accept completed work. 2) Participate in internal automation project reviews to report schedule and financial status using Business Warehouse/SAP ERP. Organize and conduct internal and external automation project meetings to define, control, and monitor the scope, cost, schedule, and quality of the projects, as well as debriefing meetings following project conclusion. 3) Ensure proper project deviation management; assess, approve, and expedite technical aspects of change orders; and define effective claim strategies for customers, partners, and subcontractors. 4) Prepare documentation for the installation processes and prepare work packages for other locations as needed. 5) Resolve issues and answer questions that occur during the design, manufacturing, installation, and/or commissioning phase of automation projects in various industries, including grain processing plants (Wheat, Corn, Oats Mills), cookies, chocolate, poultry feed, pasta, and malt. 6) Track automation project schedules to ensure tasks are completed on time and in totality. 7) Manage assigned budget, including cost and quality, of subcontracted design services as electrical installation engineering, where food industries and different countries/regions require special standards regarding food safety and electrical components. 8) Provide technical support for claim and deviation management, as needed. 9) Provide guidance and support to project team members. 10) Participate in continual learning activities and apply practical applications to work performed. 11) Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in project plans and objectives, including developing risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks in automation retrofit projects in which old software solutions developed have potential impacts on project plans and objectives. Position requires international and domestic travel up to 50% of the time. This position requires a Bachelor s Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, or related field and three (3) years of experience in engineering project management. Experience must include three (3) years of experience, which may be concurrent, in all of the following: 1) Manage and lead a cross-functional team of automation engineers in Scrum methodology, build and manage backlogs to ensure that the team is working on the highest priority items that align with the project goals and customer needs.
