LAKE COUNTY Cemetery Groundskeeper Sexton in SAINT IGNATIUS, Montana

The Lake County Cemetery is accepting applications for Cemetery Groundskeeper / Sexton in Saint Ignatius. QUALIFICATIONS: Under the general supervision of the Cemetery Coordinator this position performs routine grounds maintenance. Must possess a valid MT driver's license. Must be knowledgeable in the principles, safety precautions, and practices of operating a cemetery. Duties are performed outside under varying weather conditions. This position requires the ability to stand, bend at the waist, kneel and reach over the head. Must be able to move or lift equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Excellent customer service skills and communication skills are required. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed. DUTIES: Performs routine grounds maintenance; mowing and trimming around headstones, trees, poles, rocks, roads, fences, buildings, and structures. Must be able to use hand tools and light equipment to maintain landscaping, buildings, internal roadways, and walkways; performs routine preventative maintenance on tools and equipment; operates lawn mowers, weed whips, and various other tools and equipment as requested. Must be able to operate a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the cemetery, as required. Report mechanical and maintenance problems; collects and remove garbage and perform other duties as assigned. Help to prepare funeral and burial arrangements, including date, time, space, mortuary, and type of burial. Sell burial plots and internment spaces; maintains computerized and manual records of deeds, burial plots, burial dates, and names of deceased and next of kin. Provides information to customers, citizens, and mortuaries. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from high school. One year of grounds maintenance or lawn scaping experience is preferred. Skills in establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with citizens, departmental staff, and other employees. Skills in establishing and maintaining routine working relationships with citizens, department staff, and employees in other departments and cemeteries. HOURS/DAYS: Monday - Fridays 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. Location: TBD Wage: $16.75/hourly Benefits: Lake County offers excellent benefits!
