Actalent Structural Engineer - Remote in Portland, Oregon

As a Project (Structural) Engineer, your relevant experience will influence your project assignments. You will be exposed to a range of tasks in civil/structural engineering, particularly in support of process and manufacturing projects, with a significant focus on the oil and gas sector. Experience in industrial plant structures, foundation design, and structural steel design and detailing are crucial. The role also includes tasks such as grading drainage, stormwater collection, and access roads.
Responsibilities
Work closely with and assist other engineering disciplines in support of projects.
Collaborate and direct the drafting and design of structures as necessary.
Expand, maintain, and utilize a working knowledge of shallow and deep foundation types, general framing and building systems, plan preparation, construction considerations, and building codes.
Work on typical plant and terminal structures including shallow, mat, and deep foundations for equipment such as pumps and vessels, steel structures such as pipe supports, multi-story towers and bridges, marine structures such as docks, dolphins, and seawalls, and occupied and non-occupied buildings both prefabricated and stick-built.
Perform building structural evaluations, retrofits, and new construction projects.
Conduct on-site work including damage assessment and construction field observation.
Understand and implement practical applications of structural engineering standards.
Manage structural engineering projects.
Travel for approximately 2-3 days every 2-3 months as needed.
Essential Skills
Design skills in concrete and structural engineering.
Experience with steel structures, RISA, structural design, and AISC design.
Registered professional engineer for at least 1 year with intent to obtain licenses in other states through reciprocity.
5+ years of experience designing with structural steel and reinforced concrete.
Working experience with seismic analysis, design, and detailing.
Experience with AISC 341 detailing for steel structures.
Experience developing and reviewing structural calculations and drawings for permitting/third-party review.
Experience with building design and light architectural work.
Proficiency with structural software such as RISA products (3D, Foundation, Connection, Calc), Mathcad Prime, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365 products.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
Experience with pre-engineered structures/light gauge steel.
Licenses in CA, OR, WA, UT are preferred.
Experience with seismic codes and design.
Work Environment
Work on a 100% remote schedule, with likely several short trips each year, though none exceeding 2-3 days every couple of months. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
- Permanently 100% remote- Performance based bonuses paid out at the end of the year- 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off- Banked hours - any hours worked over 80 in a 2 week period goes into "the bank". Engineers have the option to be paid for that at the end of each quarter. At the end of the year, engineers also will be compensated for all remaining PTO over 40 hours.- 40 hours of PTO rolls over to the next year
