Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.
What You Will Do: Life Cycle Engineering is currently seeking a Technical Writer/Editor I to develop technical documentation using Extensible Markup Language (XML) to produce Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals for technical publications.
We’re looking for a self-starter who is team oriented and able to interact with team members including engineering and logistics specialists in preparing technical publications and working to deadlines.
As a Technical Writer/Editor I, you’re an important member of a customer driven team where you’ll interpret electrical and mechanical drawings for use in the development of maintenance and repair procedures utilizing designated test equipment and tools. You’ll prepare structured documentation aligned with customer-provided standards and industry and government specification and you’ll participate in customer reviews, validations and/or verifications.
Your responsibilities will include:
Writing / Editing technical documentation for the operation and maintenance of various systems of equipment.
Working independently with general instructions on technical publications or other related assignments. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy in accordance with Company policy and standards.
Engaging with other Integrated Logistics Services (ILS) product teams such as Provisioning and Logistics to ensure technical accuracy of technical publication products.
Travel: Approximately 10%

This job is located at Raytheon’s Portsmouth, RI facility and is posted as HYBRID. Commuting costs to and from the Portsmouth facility are the responsibility of the incumbent.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience creating and/or editing technical documentation
Experience developing documents using SGML, XML, HTML or other mark-up languages in a military or civilian environme
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience using publication content management systems and developing modularized content
Experience creating technical manuals in accord with MIL-STD document guidance
Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Suite of products including Acrobat.
Ability to work in a team environment with frequent customer contact as well as multi-task across the needs of the site
Excellent written and verbal communications skills

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
