General Atomics and Affiliated Companies Senior Business Systems Analyst in Poway, California

Under general direction, this position acts as a liaison between one or more business system users in contracts and procurement to ensure that information technology design, data, reports, systems, and processes meets the needs of the end users.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a liaison between users of business computer systems and the business process technical staff to interpret needs into specifications for computer/system implementation.

  • Lead the development of schedules and output reports, establishing priorities for task completion, and define/modify/update interfaces between other internal and external computer systems.

  • Act as an advocate to enhance the use of the current software/computer systems and ensure users are trained.

  • Leads information technology developments.

  • Recommend and implement new and/or modification/upgrades of existing business process improvement applications and projects.

  • Develop reports, processes, analyses, etc. to meet user requirements.

  • Lead strategic planning for overall business system(s) development.

  • Provide training, guidance, and direction to less experienced staff.

  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related discipline and fifteen or more years of progressive professional experience in business systems analysis. May substitute equivalent working experience in the field in lieu of education.

  • Must demonstrate a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of business systems theories, concepts, and practices.

  • Must have project leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.

  • Must be able to provide leadership in developing new processes or systems, resolve unusually complex technical problems, and serve as spokesperson or leader on projects.

  • Must be customer focused and possess:

  • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data, and develop innovative solutions to a variety of unusually complex problems.

  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including senior management and senior external parties.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide employees, managers, customers, and other external parties.

  • Excellent computer skills with relational database systems like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, including SSRS and SSIS, working with views and stored procedures, scripting, and Web services.

  • Development experience utilizing agile, iterative, and incremental development methodologies to build solutions that apply K2/Mendix, SQL Server, Oracle, Power BI, and Hyland OnBase technologies to support end user processes.

  • Ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
