As our Wound Ostomy Care Specialist RN at Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center, you will help patients receive specialized care so they can achieve optimal healing and quality of life. Every day you will assess, manage, and provide education on wound, ostomy, and continence care. You will be expected to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients. To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate expertise in wound and ostomy care practices. Experience in providing patient education and collaborating with healthcare professionals is also crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Performs consultation, evaluation and creates treatment plan per physician order on inpatients with complex wound and/or ostomy needs.

  • Evaluates patient response to treatment and the progress of wound healing, as needed.

  • Provides education to patient, caregiver, and staff, as skin/wound and ostomy care.

  • Collaborates with other Wound / Ostomy Care Nurses to review results of P & I study and make changes to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Current, valid Arizona or compact RN state license.

  • Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.

  • Two years recent acute care RN experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment

  • Able to position and/or transfer an average patient and possess gross coordination sufficient to perform other patient care duties as required.

  • Must be able to perform manipulative skills such as complex wound dressings and ostomy appliance maintenance.

  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.

  • Advanced wound care experience.

  • Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing (WOCN) or Wound Care (WCC) certification.

  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience; Cerner strongly preferred

Pay Range

$35.28 - $51.16 /hour
