Educational Testing Service Software Developer, Research - Senior in Princeton, New Jersey

Contribute to the planning, design, development, and deployment of major components of highly complex research applications and systems in diverse development platforms. Develop major components of large-scale applications and systems supporting research, data analysis and reporting assessment, product development or operational projects. Document and communicate solutions and results for peers, immediate and area management, and internal and external clients.

  • Contribute to the planning, development, maintenance and/or deployment of major components of highly complex applications and systems in a research-oriented work setting.

  • Using specified operating systems, hardware platforms and development environments, produce effective, medium-scale technology solutions supporting a targeted set of research and operational projects.

  • Work with peers, management, and project staff to develop technical specifications and test cases, confirm functionality/usability and respond to requests for technical expertise and assistance.

  • Lead the preparation of technical documentation for assigned research applications and systems and contribute to planning documents and status reports related to research technology development activities for peers and immediate management.

  • Lead and mentor junior research software developers. Maintain continuing awareness of relevant emerging technologies for possible application in research technology environments. Identify and evaluate new research technologies and gather and organize technical information in support of acquisition decisions and client and/or vendor negotiations.

  • Adhere to Research and/or industry standards for technical quality, usable and accessible designs, data/source-code storage and application/systems security.

  • Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

Proven experience in providing complex technology solutions that are developed and deployed in a working environment.

Advanced knowledge of and experience with current operating systems, software development languages and environments is required.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible information technology and systems development experience, ideally in a research setting, are required.
