Full-time Asst Project Manager / Facilities Manager needed for a Provo, UT university.
Assistant Facilities Manager
This position acts as a project manager for remodels/improvements, facilitating completion of building projects by personnel from Physical Facilities, the BYU Library, and other University departments. The position ensures consistent communication with service providers and stakeholders during each project, manages the Receiving section of the library's Facilities and Receiving unit, and assists the library Facilities/Construction Manager as otherwise necessary.
*What you'll do in this position: *
- Helps create basic floorplans (using a program such as Google SketchUp) to facilitate early stages and efficient iterations in the remodeling planning process.
- Hires, trains (including safety and forklift training), and supervises Receiving section student employees (5-17 students, depending on project, but averages 8 student employees) in projects including, but not limited to: setting up and relocating library shelving; employee office moves; Steelcase desk assembly/disassembly; etc.
- Responsible for ordering and managing inventory of standard and specialty office supplies provided for and used by all library departments and patrons (approximately $50,000 annually).
- Manages building-related annual and semi-annual projects such as access controls for secure doors, seating capacity audit, safety inspections of escutcheon rings, fire extinguishers, emergency supply carts, and other projects as needed.
- Oversees facilities-related requests - Submits and follows-up on approximately 150 work orders and 450 service requests annually with Physical Facilities
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
- 2 years of relevant work experience (facilities management, project management or academic library work experience), including 1 year of supervisory experience OR bachelor's degree in construction management or related discipline.
- Familiarity with the construction industry and a basic ability to read blueprints
Preferred
- Experience working in an academic library.
- Competency with a basic 3-D modeling program such as Google SketchUp.

Physical Exam Details: Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions. Examples include: Lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs, 1 hour, Up to five times per week Relocate furniture (desks, bookshelves, card catalogs, etc.), 30 minutes to 4 hours,Up to five times per week Help assemble, disassemble, or transport shelving, 30 minutes to 4 hours, Up to five times per week Use pallet jacks, flatbed carts, or hand trucks to transport large/heavy objects to various places in the building, 30 minutes to 4 hours, Up to five times per week Climb ladders, 10 minutes, Up to five times per month
