We are seeking an experienced Principal - Software Engineer to join the Ally Compliance Technology team. This is a key role providing technical guidance to the team and leadership within an Agile development squad by collaborating with offshore team and other onsite team members.

In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to sustain a vital financial crimes application and will drive technical solutions for the enterprise-wide financial crimes platform. You will provide substantial contributions in the design, coding, testing, support, and debugging of new software and enhancements to the existing platform, using your technical knowledge, creativity, and experience to deliver solutions to complex problems. You will be a technical specialist for the team and a mentor for junior team members and will review other team member deliverables.

The Work Itself

  • Sustain an enterprise-wide financial crimes platform and execute/maintain runbooks and continuous integration deployment pipelines
  • Design, code, review, test, debug document, and support compliance applications and tools consistent with established specifications and business requirements; write clean, reusable, scalable, and secure code for deployment adhering to standard methodologies
  • Develop and ensure compliance with architecture principles and standards for the various systems and components based on design patterns, development standards, and best practices
  • Lead overall project development, production support, and maintenance activities; instill solid focus and standard methodologies for creation and maintenance of high-quality work
  • Prepare and update necessary documentation for deliverables and assist in developing and maintaining system documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement through coaching, pair programming, code review processes, and team discussions
  • Work closely with the scrum master and other members of the wider team to plan and develop the integration components
  • Identify and unblock technical risks; breakdown and estimate technical tasks and recommend implementation approach for team; ensure stories contain the right balance of technical direction, standard methodologies, and level of detail
  • Work in an advisory capacity to identify key technical business problems, develop and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations
  • Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution relating to current applications, providing assistance to the internal or external teams

The Skills You Bring

Required:

  • 5+ years of strong, hands-on enterprise software development experience with Java technologies and Rest API, data exchange (JSON, XML), SQL server / Oracle DB; ability to write clean, quality, and testable applications that support rapid delivery via continuous integration, delivery, and automated deployments
  • 2+ years of experience in AWS including Ec2, S3, RDS, ELB, IAM, Cloud Front and Cloud Watch and working experience with AWS Cloud technologies and using Dev Ops (CI/CD) pipeline in enterprise development environments and tools including - GitLab, Jenkins, JIRA/Confluence, SonarQube, Checkmarx, NexusIQ
  • Familiar with authoring Terraform configuration files
  • Familiar with API debugging tools, (e.g., Postman, Fiddler)
  • Knowledge of standard change management tools and processes, code branching/merging/commit strategies, feature branches, and trunk-based development
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of the software development life cycle

Preferred:

  • 2+ years in a technical lead role working in Agile scrum-based development model and sustaining complex applications, highly preferred
  • Working experience in Investment Banking / Financial services
  • Familiar with monitoring / tracing tooling
  • Experience supporting compliance applications for Fraud and AML
  • Experience with SAS technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 110000

Experienced: 145000

Expert: 180000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
