Microsoft Corporation Principal Technical Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind building the Microsoft cloud. Within CO+I, the CO+I Engineering team is responsible for delivering engineering ecosystem for the datacenter capacity delivery and operation for Microsoft’s cloud. Inside of CO+I Engineering, this team is the Centralized Program Management and Design organization driving product strategy, roadmap and, along with the engineers, delivering the products and services to support Microsoft cloud growth.

In this role as a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will lead a group of product/program managers and define/deliver software solutions for data center infrastructure planning, acquisition and end-to-end execution in data center capacity delivery. You and your team will ensure the solutions are built on top of desired business processes and can meet the business needs and scaling.

Responsibilities

  • You will provide strategic help to cross-divisional teams as they work with Software Engineering to design technical solutions. You will also oversee teams as they identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.

  • You’ll drive cross-divisional teams to define success criteria and provide strategic knowledge to help them understand return on investment. You’ll also oversee team collaboration and ensure alignment on product management and release.

  • You will oversee cross-divisional teams as they deliver on feature roadmap, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and hold teams accountable for leading governance programs.

  • You will oversee teams driving continuous improvements by using industry expertise to teach them to validate use cases and helping them partner with other departments to collect performance metrics. You’ll also oversee teams that own customer support and ensure cross-divisional participation in direct customer engagements.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • Knowledge and experience in cloud infrastructure planning and management

  • Technical background in tools such as SAP S/4 HANA, SAP Ariba, Microsoft Dynamics enterprise resource planning (ERP), master data management systems (SAP MDG), Microsft Azure Data Lake, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Power BI, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps and Experience with middleware for data integration, APIs.

  • Analytical skills to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Ability to diagnose and guide teams to troubleshoot issues, solve complex problems, and propose innovative solutions.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
