Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Substrate Green Team is responsible for building security strategy, writing prototype and proof-of-concept code, working with teams to evangelize secure patterns, and driving architectural changes into the product to improve security outcomes at the scale of M365.

Responsibilities

  • Improve application security maturity at scale by designing, implementing, and building security solutions.

  • Partner with product managers and senior security leaders to ensure security maturity work is being prioritized and addressed across Microsoft 365 services.

  • Building prototypes and proof-of-concept code, working alongside the engineering teams to provide advice on secure design and implementation.

  • Providing design guidance and security reviews to engineering teams and improve security maturity.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience with Distributed Services.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and shipping production grade software or services.

  • Experience in conducting threat model assessment of infrastructure and services.

  • Have a deep desire to work collaboratively, solve problems with groups, find win/win solutions and celebrate successes.

  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
