We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Teams Fundamentals organization and lead various initiatives aimed at enhancing Teams' reliability and resiliency. Your role will involve spearheading innovations in telemetry usage to measure reliability across diverse user segments, leveraging customer feedback, developing scalable diagnostics and analytics for swift detection and debugging, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure engineering excellence, and architecting resilient solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements for enhancing the reliability and resiliency of Microsoft Teams. 

  • Lead the identification of dependencies and contribute to the development of design documents aimed at improving the reliability and performance of Teams. 

  • Develop, optimize, and debug code to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and maintainability of Teams, ensuring a high return on investment. 

  • Utilize expertise in product features to partner with project managers and drive project plans, release plans, and work items related to reliability initiatives. 

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and practices in reliability engineering to continuously improve the availability, efficiency, and performance of Microsoft Teams, while ensuring consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 

  • OR equivalent experience. 

  • 2+ years experience leading cross-functional efforts to understand and implement user requirements. 

  • 2+ years experience analyzing and debugging complex systems and design solutions, with solid problem-solving skills. 

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science orrelated technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,  or Python 

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 

  • OR equivalent experience. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration platforms is highly desirable. 

  • Effective communication skills and ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
