Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineering Manager in Redmond, Washington

Do you want to work on impactful projects supporting next generation data plane which protects Azure customer services and platform from DDoS attacks? Azure DDoS Protection is a critical platform that is responsible for protecting against DDoS attacks while providing industry leading capabilities.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team to support DDoS protection of our edge infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an engineering team responsible for building and enhancing critical components of Azure DDoS protection service which protects not just Azure customers and infrastructure but many other Microsoft services like Xbox, Office etc.

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of features and services for Azure Networking which add additional capabilities, improve quality, performance, and reliability to the system.

  • Participate in code reviews for other team members.

  • Participate in on-call rotations to address operational issues and improve customer experience.

  • Learn with the team and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, and processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, Rust, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 2+ years people management experience

Software Engineering M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
