BluePearl Veterinary Group Medical Director West Region in Remote, Florida

BluePearl is searching for an experienced, motivating, and driven clinical leader to join our team as a Veterinary Group Medical Director for our West Region!

This Region consists of California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado and the position will oversee multiple markets within this region.

The Group Medical Director (GMD) has medical oversight of multiple markets within the organization with combined revenues of approximately $100MM or greater.

As a GMD, you will:

  • Responsible for translation of organizational objectives into market-specific objectives that instill Clinician-driven culture, promote Clinician engagement and retention, and yield strong fiscal performance.

  • Frequently travels (50%) to hospitals to evaluate and mentor medical leaders and address concerns.

  • Partners with regional operational leadership of assigned market(s) to ensure a balanced representation of medical quality and financial considerations.

  • Partners with People & Organization to champion consistency in a high performance and an engaged workforce.

  • Leads and directs the Medical Directors of assigned region to ensure adherence with organizational objectives in areas involving medical quality, clinician recruitment, retention, and engagement, ensuring that the hospital is a learning environment supporting the clinical development of clinicians and technicians.

  • Ensures medical leaders are attentive to the engagement level of associates and drives a hospital climate of psychological safety.

  • Identifies medical leadership talent, ensures development of medical leaders, and creates a pipeline of talent to support future organizational growth.

  • Monitors reports on medical occurrences, patient safety and client experience and partners with stakeholders as needed to ensure swift resolution, improvements, and/or coaching as needed.

  • Partners with Regional Operational Leaders to ensure appropriate productivity levels and growth plans for Clinicians and hospitals, including optimizing technical team role clarity, skillset, and workflow efficiency.

  • Actively contributes to the development of practice guidelines and care protocols that lead to the achievement of quality medical and service outlines and cost efficiencies.

  • Serves as high-level representative and champion of BluePearl mission and vision in all interactions within the organization and external veterinary community.

  • Partner with Regional Medical and Operational Leadership to effectively communicate and cascade key initiatives impacting medical staff, building organizational trust.

  • Partners with Regional Operational Leaders to ensure appropriate productivity levels and growth plans for Clinicians and hospitals, including optimizing technical team role clarity, skillset, and workflow efficiency.

  • Accountable for on-site visit processes for DVM candidates in assigned markets, onboarding, and mentoring of new Clinicians through the mentorship program.

  • Works collaboratively with support to develop solutions for escalated concerns and influences medical leaders to shape adoption and ensure effectiveness of resolutions.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent degree) required.

  • 3+ years’ leadership experience required.

  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

  • Works under minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritization of work, and problem-solving skills.

  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of business needs to recommend appropriate action.
