Fortive Corporation Senior Revenue Accountant in Remote, United States

The Senior Revenue Accountant will be a key member of the accounting team. In this role, you will provide leadership on technical revenue accounting, including accurate and timely processing of global revenue transactions, as well as review and guidance on complex customer contracts, ensuring revenue recognition and all related documentation complies with ASC 606. The ideal candidate will have experience with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, software and subscription revenue recognition, and strong knowledge of the quote to cash process and its impacts on revenue.

  • Perform key role in month end closing process, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, posting and reviewing revenue transactions, and preparing financial revenue reporting.

  • Responsible for the review and approval of revenue arrangements within NetSuite, ensuring all revenue recognition policies are being adhered to.

  • Review and provide feedback on unique and challenging customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606. Will be a liaison to work upstream with contracting and sales departments.

  • Integral part of quote to cash process, including providing guidance to order entry and invoicing team to ensure customer contracts are processed and recorded in revenue accurately.

  • Maintain complete and accurate deferred revenue and unbilled receivable accounts.

  • Analyze the stand-alone selling price, management judgements, and other assumptions used to assess revenue recognition under ASC 606 and contract acquisition costs under ASC 340.

  • Prepare and maintain technical memos and revenue contract write-ups in accordance with ASC 606.

  • Assist with customer-related internal and external inquiries, including review and approval of customer concessions and cancellations. Collaborate cross-functionally to support these customer relationships.

  • Responsible for maintaining adherence to all relevant revenue-related SOX controls, assisting in internal SOX testing, and implementing corrective actions as necessary to guarantee compliance.

  • Work closely with external audit team in supporting annual audit requirements.

  • Prepare and control over commissions process, including calculation of commissions and monthly accounting.

  • Expectation to consistently identify, implement, and own process and system improvements to further scale and streamline the quote to cash process.

  • Participate in Mergers & Acquisitions integration activities as applicable.

    Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as an accounting professional

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Strong Accounting knowledge with an understanding of U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley, and ASC 606.

  • CPA License (or in the process of obtaining)

  • Proven ability to take initiative and be proactive, with the desire to grow and learn

  • Experience working in a fast-paced growth environment

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally at various levels within a company

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in public accounting/Big 4 preferred

  • Software industry and/or software revenue recognition experience preferred

  • Experience with NetSuite or other revenue recognition software preferred

National: The salary range for this position is $54,100 - $100,500

Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location.
