Regeneron Pharmaceuticals EHS Specialist in Rensselaer, New York

We are currently looking to fill an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist position with a Wednesday – Saturday 12:00PM – 10:30PM schedule. Regeneron successfully manufactures a range of biopharmaceuticals for patients worldwide, including our approved therapeutic proteins and those involved in clinical studies. Out EHS Specialists works collaboratively across various site teams to keep safety awareness a critical focus for all team members. We believe the ideal candidate will have proven experience in the support and continuous improvement of dynamic safety programs in a manufacturing environment. Comprehensive site and employee safety is paramount for our EHS team, and we take the health and well-being of team members seriously.

As an EHS Specialist, a typical day might include the following:

  • Participates in the implementation of various EHS programs and initiatives.

  • Participates in implementing environmental and safety management systems.

  • Develops EHS training content for online, on the job training and classroom training sessions and performs training as necessary.

  • Assists with writing safety related policies and procedures, as required.

  • Performs safety related assessments, makes recommendations, and determines trends and action plans.

  • Facilitates Learning Teams with a Human Performance / Safety II mindset.

  • Performs Industrial Hygiene monitoring and supports personnel to interpret data and determine potential exposure to hazards.

  • Performs EHS audits and works with other parts of the organization to address and implement solutions for any identified issues.

  • Writes clear and concise safety related communications, including e-mails, letters, policies, and procedures, as required.

  • Participates as a member of the Emergency Response Team and responds to emergencies as they may arise and is available for on call response on an as needed basis.

  • Participates in professional development training and activities.

This role may be for you if:

  • You have 3-5 years of industrial experience, preferably in bio-pharma manufacturing or equivalent.

  • You are a self-starter, an active listener and familiar with Human Performance and Safety II fundamentals.

  • You can respond to medical or hazardous material emergencies as needed with knowledge and experience to stabilize situations effectively.

  • You are knowledgeable in industrial hygiene and can compile and interpret data as needed.

  • You can articulately explain thought and decision-making process.

  • You hold a strong desire to learn and be challenged.

To be considered for this role you must have the following education and minimum years of related experience for each level:

  • Associate Specialist: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Specialist: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of EHS related experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Senior Specialist: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of EHS related experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Level will be determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.

Salary Range (annually)

$58,480.40 - $124,300.00
