The TBM Council is seeking an experienced Market Research & Analytics Manager to advance the mission and vision of the organization. With over 15,000 members and scaling fast, the TBM Council is a non-profit open ecosystem underwritten by IBM. The

Council staff are full-time employees of IBM who manage all aspects of the foundation's operations, strategy, membership, events, certification, and standards, working in partnership with the TBMC board and community members.

Reporting to either the Director, Standards and Research, this manager will focus on the planning, execution, and data analysis of TBM Council's market research program. This role provides a great opportunity for a curious, self-starter to become part of a high-performing team and implement a hands-on approach to community and market research, data analysis, and data-driven decision making.

You will work in a cross-functional team managing market research programs, coordinating with multiple stakeholders across divergent functions, and ensuring

seamless collaboration and alignment across various workstreams. The ideal candidate has a growth mindset and loves finding creative ways to present data findings that multiple personas will find helpful and engaging.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead community research and market analysis efforts within the organization, leveraging deep and transformational analytics experience.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive market research strategy to support Council objectives and drive awareness, engagement, and growth of our TBM community.

  • Gather and interpret data through surveys, interviews, online research, and other data sources to help drive strategic decision-making and improve the Council's position in the market.

  • Work closely with and manage third-party research and analytics firms, managing projects and ensuring research objectives are aligned with Council goals and achieve the highest quality and cost effectiveness.

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of market trends, persona behavior, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and risks for the Council.

  • Translate complex data into meaningful insights and recommendations that inform business strategy and decision making.

  • Stay up to date with industry developments and emerging trends to provide thought leadership and innovative ideas for research.

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing research findings, complete with data visualizations and recommendations.

  • Present research findings and insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders clearly and compellingly.

  • Help foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the Council team, driving experimentation and innovation in research methods and techniques.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to market research and data privacy.

  • Utilize statistical analysis tools and software to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw actionable conclusions

  • Meet all milestones and final deliverables by deadlines; when delays do occur, work with the team to estimate, monitor, adjust, and proactively communicate revised deadlines as needed.

  • Follow TBM Council branding guidelines and standards to ensure content is professional and consistent.

  • Collaborate across the TBM Council staff and the overall community as needed to ensure we are conducting research that matters and makes an impact

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills

  • 5+ years of proven experience managing market research and data analytics in a technology company or community

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Proficient in designing and executing market research studies, including both qualitative and quantitative research methods

  • Experience in conducting surveys, focus groups, interviews, and observational studies to gather insights

  • Experience using multiple data research, visualization, and analytics tools, or a proven ability to learn new software and tools quickly and effectively, including Google Analytics, Tableau, Qualtrics, Adobe Analytics, etc.

  • Deep understanding of B2B technology customer behavior, and ideally an understanding of TBM, FinOps and other related disciplines

  • Strong analytics skills: enjoys numbers and using data to solve business problems

  • Self-starter and fast learner with a desire to move with urgency, accountability, and intent

  • Comfortable operating in a collaborate environment and managing through influence

  • Demonstrated bias for action

  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail, with experience effectively prioritizing projects, directing resources, and meeting deadlines

  • Skilled in analyzing large data sets, using statistical software, and deriving meaningful insights from data

  • Strong and effective communication and presentation skills; persuasive and concise storyteller using your findings

  • Team player able to work with virtual and global cross-functional teams

  • Equally comfortable giving or receiving direction, leading, or contributing as appropriate, driving conversations with senior leaders and colleagues, or supporting, as necessary

  • Strong skills in Data collection and Data Cleaning and experience working with large data sets, scripting and coding in R, C++ and /or Python

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (advanced level Excel and PowerPoint user) and presentation software

  • Experience working with regulatory compliance frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA and good understanding of AI ethics

  • Ability to travel up to 20%, including potential international travel

The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
