ICF Environmental Scientist – Data Specialist in Reston, Virginia

We are seeking an Environmental Scientists – Data Specialist to work in our Health Science Practice!

As an Environmental Scientist – Data Specialist , you will join a multidisciplinary group of 120+ science professionals that support assessments of the human health impacts across a full range of pollutants. We provide toxicology, hazard assessment, epidemiology, risk assessment, exposure assessment, environmental modeling, and related support services to federal agencies (such as U.S. EPA and NIEHS). The Environmental Scientist – Data Specialist will focus on the support of environmental systematic review projects and require an understanding of 1) environmental science and 2) data analysis/management and data visualization. Working with the other members of the data management team spanning all levels of experience, you will contribute to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects simultaneously.

The position will be REMOTE. There is the option for hybrid employment at the Reston, VA and Durham, NC locations.

What you will do:

Support systematic literature review tasks for Government clients:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the databases and associated user forms developed to house systematic review information for fields such as exposure science, epidemiology, toxicology, physical/chemical properties, environmental fate, etc.

  • Implement, and eventually add to, python scripts used to manipulate the raw data into formats for reporting and data visualizations.

  • Design new forms and new workflows in tools such as DistilerSR as the systematic review process is refined over time.

  • Manage uploads of references into the database and ensure references move through the different systematic review steps correctly according to the intended logic.

  • Write custom scripts in python to support tool interoperability and build custom data analysis and data visualization pipelines.

Support other environmental data management tasks. Additional tasks could include:

  • Transform data to create visuals, reports, and other data products of systematic review results in tools such as PowerBI.

  • Conduct data and statistical analysis using tools such as Excel, Access, and other software, such as R, SAS, Python, SQL, and VBA, to summarize trends, develop and execute database queries, and develop and format modeling inputs.

  • Perform geospatial analysis in ArcGIS.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or related subject, or equivalent experience.

Professional Skills:

  • Understanding of environmental science and human health risk assessment.

  • Qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills. Experience with DistillerSR strongly preferred.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking and solve novel problems.

  • High level of attention to detail and demonstrated experience performing quality assurance checks of work.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$52,488.00 - $89,230.00
