The Microsoft Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s Cloud-first strategy. We are looking for a Finance Manager - Government Deals to help shape the future of our cloud products.

The team’s charter is to build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve both profit & gross margin growth while delighting our customers. As a crucial member of the team you’ll also support long term bets and drive market intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition, all while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments and safeguarding shareholder interest.

Our Cloud Investment Strategy team is seeking a Finance Manager - Government Deals responsible for driving the financial evaluation of Cloud related opportunities in support of Microsoft’s work with the all customers but with a special focus on US Federal Government customers and their mission partners. The Finance Manager - Government Deals will lead the customer-facing deal economics for many potential opportunities. Core responsibilities will include business partnering with US field teams, mission engineering partners, cloud engineering partners, and corporate finance teams end-to-end to assess and communicate the investments, risks, and economics of potential opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner across diverse business planning, engineering teams, field, and finance teams to drive Microsoft’s strategy & execution

  • Develop robust financial models to evaluate investments and to inform customer-specific opportunities

  • Enhance transparency into end-to-end processes and partnerships to identify and drive accountability

  • Be a trusted business partner to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance

  • Analyze ROI and provide clear decision support to business teams

  • Develop and implement processes and frameworks to accelerate, simplify, and scale Microsoft Cloud’s investment process

  • Engage in continuous learning of Microsoft Cloud services, infrastructure, operations, go-to-market, and long-term cloud economics

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field

  • OR equivalent experience

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Deep modeling capabilities and ability to work with financial and business systems.

  • Experience and familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations.

  • Ability to think end to end from strategic planning through multi-year execution; and to model the financial investments and impact accordingly.

  • Proficient partnering capabilities, with the ability to influence others without direct authority.

  • Thorough and detail oriented, yet able to see the forest for the trees .

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity across a continuously evolving, fast-paced business.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to work under tight deadlines.

  • High level of self-motivation and autonomy; ability to quickly identify what needs to be accomplished and resourcefulness to get things done.

Financial Analysis IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.
