Chart Industries Operational Buyer in Rheden, Netherlands

The Big Picture:

Howden Reciprocating and Centrifugal compressors (HCR), is a specialist supplier of tailor-made gas compression equipment to various industries. Our products have made a valuable difference for our clients for the past 100 years, and we are now looking for an Operational Buyer who will join our team and assist us in making a valuable difference in the century to come.

The main role purpose is being responsible for identifying standardization, supplier enablement and operational purchasing in line with the overall strategy and business needs. This is a unique opportunity to work with a highly motivated team which is based in Rheden, the Netherlands, to capture the growth opportunities in the renewable hydrogen market!

What needs to be done?

  • Handle buying from release of the items (purchase order placement) and complete the procurement process of medium-complex, medium/low-value items for multiple projects.

  • Handle all operational buying work driven by business requirements, for both New Build as Aftermarket. This includes strong communication with the responsible engineer, project manager, strategic buyer and other stake holders in order to:

  • Create the purchase orders (contracting)

  • Follow the process until timely delivery (expediting)

  • Follow-up on all process disruptions such as late deliveries, quality items, not matching invoices etc.

  • Establish contracts and work with internal customers to identify understand and translate purchasing needs.

  • Perform related purchasing activities, such as colleting applicable specifications or drawings and generation of purchase orders within pre-established spending limits.

  • Perform related purchasing activities such as order confirmations, required certifications, invoices, delivery/quality mismatches that require short-time reaction.

  • Achieve and improve on time delivery with the existing supply base for small parts.

  • Cooperate with safety procedures and further develop a safe working environment internally and externally.

  • Work continuously on cost reduction opportunities and process improvements.

What do you need to bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering with commercial experience.

  • Fluent English language skills, both verbal and in writing (fluent in German, both verbal and in writing is a bonus).

  • Previous work experience as Tactical or Operational Buyer or a role within Procurement in a multinational company.

  • Pro-active personality and ambition to challenge and improve current working-processes.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Project management experience.

  • Knowledge of supply chain processes, procedures and theory.

  • Ability to read and understand P&ID’s and part drawing.

  • Ability to prioritize and flexibility to adapt to changes.

  • Ability to set-up supply chain strategies for various product categories.

  • Self-starting mind-set.

  • Willingness to go the distance beyond job description, to serve our customers.
