Job Responsibilities/Duties
Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) is the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. The WRPS mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 56 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste. This complex mission spans all competencies of engineering/science accomplished through a highly integrated organization engineering organization. Engineering at WRPS consists of process engineering, design engineering, nuclear safety, plant/system engineering, construction project engineering, procurement engineering, process and control system engineering, engineering standards/program implementation, and the Chief Technology Office. These areas support all areas of the tank farm mission including Retrievals, Production Operations, Field Projects, Waste Feed Delivery Projects, and long term innovations.
Production Operations Engineering provides a variety of engineering services in support of the operation and maintenance of TOC facilities and ensuring proper implementation of engineering requirements, including: developing inputs, assumptions and design criteria for tank farm facility modifications; administrating the System Engineering program and providing Cognizant System Engineering (CSE) and Shift Technical Engineer (STE) support to facilities; providing resident waste transfer and characterization technical expertise and facility knowledge in support of operability determinations, performance monitoring program, centralized resolution of Structures, Systems, and Components (SSC) performance problems; and providing Maintenance Engineering support.
WRPS is seeking electrical engineers responsible for providing engineering support to the 242-A Evaporator facility and 242A-BA Boiler Annex directly supporting the Tank Farm Operations Contract (TOC) and WRPS Engineering. Duties of the Electrical engineer typically include design, analysis, testing, control, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of Electrical systems.
The specific engineering duties will include the following:
Obtain and maintain engineering Technical Staff qualification;
Assume responsibility for the electrical system aspects of specific projects/scope including design, application, test, or the preparation of specifications for systems, materials, equipment or components in collaboration with other engineering/science competencies within the team.
Prepare technical manuals, reports, procedures and deliver technical presentations to engineering, operations, projects, and customer organizations.
Conduct site/area visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations
Support preparation of scope, cost, and schedules for projects/tasks.
Problem-solving for complex technical challenges with adaptations of engineering alternatives.
Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
Required Qualifications
Grade 14:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
Grade 15:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline; with One (1) year related experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Grade 16:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline; with Two (2) years related experience.

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
