Senior Associate, Finance Risk Management-Horizontal Operations Program

Capital One is seeking a motivated professional for a Senior Associate position in the Finance Risk Management (FRM) team. FRM associates are engaged and insightful risk management partners working across the Finance organization to execute robust and proactive risk management programs, improve effectiveness and efficiency of operation while reducing risk and influencing risk stakeholders (i.e., risk offices, compliance, internal audit, and regulators). FRM strives to enable a strong culture of risk management across Finance that is adaptable to a changing environment.

This position will have a heavy focus on operational risk programs across Capital One’s Finance organization which requires engagement between Finance business partners and second line independent risk management functions. The candidate must have the ability to direct the work of others with demonstrated problem solving, influencing, and communication skills along with an ability to work strategically within and beyond the Finance division will contribute to the candidate’s success.

General Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Finance organization’s adherence to internal policies and standards related to operational risk programs (e.g., Issue/Event Management) and risk assessments (Process Level Assessments and Divisional Risk Control Self Assessment)

  • Identify opportunities and collaborate in FRM and across Finance divisions to mature our risk framework ensuring effective control practices, governance, and supporting documentation.

  • Contribute to the enhancement of the Finance organization’s risk reporting in order to provide risk insights to support Finance business, product, and tech leaders as they set priorities and make decisions.

  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis.

  • Develop and maintain documentation to include procedures, presentations, and training materials.

  • Advise and support vertical risk advisors and business partners during risk assessments, internal audits, and regulatory exams.

  • Identify and drive process improvements within Finance’s operational risk management programs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in Financial Services, Audit, Risk Management, or a combination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in finance risk management, corporate treasury capital markets functions, or a combination

  • At least 3 years of experience in audit, compliance, risk management project management, or a combination

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial services
