University of Rochester Financial Analyst I in Rochester, New York

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Financial Analyst to oversee and enhance the financial operations within our innovative research environment. This role is instrumental in maintaining the financial health of our center, encompassing a range of responsibilities from budget preparation and financial reporting to procurement and vendor management.

Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Run sales and cost of goods reports as needed from our invoicing system to aid in budget preparation.

  • Export data from the invoicing system as required by the CART Data Manager.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports for CART, tracking revenue and expenses against the annual budget.

Budget Preparation and Management

  • Prepare the annual Supply Center budget, submit it to Finance, and enter details in Axion.

  • Consult with suppliers to arrange product shows and seminars, enhancing resource availability and training opportunities.

Procurement and Inventory Management

  • Meet with new and existing suppliers to set up and maintain inventory price files and required documentation.

  • Create purchase orders and verify invoices in Workday; responsibilities shared with the Analyst and Accounting Assistant.

  • Approve P2P and Purchasing card transactions.

Analyze and interpret data, statistics and financial information:

  • Develop reports and metrics on the financial position of CART

  • Develop modeling tools to predict how changes impact the financial position

  • Research and benchmark CART rates with comparable institutions

Operational Support and System Management

  • Maintain and update room and occupancy records in URSpace and its new system replacement.

  • Provide on-site support for CTWBusiness Suite and consult with CTW to resolve issues when needed.

  • Prepare and preflight inventory and end-of-month transaction files, uploading through URtransfer.

Vendor and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Submit Marketplace orders for Staples, W.B. Mason, Amazon, and others as needed, shared with the Analyst and Accounting Assistant.

  • Provide support for inventory planning coordinators by issuing credits for canceled orders using our invoicing system.

Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or business related field MBA (preferred) or equivalent

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Positive customer service attitude with strong communication skills.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with financial management software such as Workday, Axion, and legacy systems like Jaeger, Onbase, and AllScripts.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

  • Initiative and independence in managing multiple priorities under tight deadline

  • Experience with UR accounting proccedures and policies (preferred)

  • Must obtain CLASP certification within one year of employment (preferred).

Pay Range

Pay Range: $24.40 - $34.16 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
