Unither Manufacturing Production Maintenance Mechanic B Shift in ROCHESTER, New York
Reporting to the Production Maintenance Manager , Perform preventative maintenance activities and set-ups on specific pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or packaging equipment and systems. Provides maintenance support to manufacturing personnel during the operation of specific types of manufacturing and packaging equipment and systems. Can diagnose basic problems and performing simple repairs on manufacturing and packaging equipment on which the mechanic has been previously trained on. May assist Master Mechanics or Senior Mechanics with repairs to equipment. Developing knowledge in specific processing areas such as liquid packaging lines, solid packaging lines, tablet presses, capsule fillers, fluidized processing equipment, etc. Equipment Available as Required by the Production Schedule Performs set-ups on specific manufacturing and packaging equipment, for which mechanic has been trained on, following required procedures. May assist Master or Senior Mechanic with more complex set-ups. Assists with production operations by helping the operators run the equipment and assists with cleaning of equipment by disassembling equipment and components as required by cleaning procedures. Reliable Equipment Performs preventative maintenance on manufacturing and packaging systems. Typically involves following detailed established procedures. Performs required, programmed testing of equipment or systems, and requiring careful documentation of results. Performs simple repairs to types of equipment and systems on which individual has been trained. Diagnoses problems on specific types of equipment and systems to determine what repairs are required. Documentation Maintains logbooks. Closes work orders by ensuring that documentation is completed that accurately reflects situation and actions taken. High School Diploma / GED 3 or more years work experience in an automated manufacturing environment. Basic knowledge of mechanical principles and automated equipment. Understanding and applying industry standards for their trade. Commercial/Industrial electrical systems, electrical and pneumatic controls, PLC, and VSD systems. Ability to work with all hand tools. Ability to fabricate simple components. Work from technical manuals and instructional documents. Perform mathematical calculations. Ability to adhere to planned work tasks and schedule. Utilize MP2 computerized maintenance management system using PDA Works mainly in a manufacturing environment with some disagreeable elements such as noise, dust, fumes, heat, safety hazards, etc. Climb ladders, standing/walking 90% of time, sitting 10 % of time. Moderate lifting with up to 50 lbs. At times required. Must have physical mobility and dexterity to frequently stand, bend, push, twist, kneel, climb, stoop, and reach overhead and able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties. Considerable mental/visual concentration, coordinating manual dexterity with mental/visual attention. Must be able to operate power equipment. Must be able to work safely with materials and equipment; works with chemicals, tools, and equipment. May work in an environment with variable but moderately high noise levels (hearing protection recommended). Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and other protective items as required. Must wear appropriate garments and coverings per cGMP (uniforms, hair/beard nets, etc.). Must be available for flexible schedule and/or overtime. Days and hours of work subject to change due to production schedules. May be required to be on call on a rotating schedule.
