University of Rochester Project Nurse in Rochester, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

Part-Time 32 hour position, D/E/N weekends and holidays as needed by department

Registered Nurse with strong clinical background responsible for patient flow. Facilitates timely admission of adult patients to SMH. Using Clinical Judgment and experience, interacts collaboratively with physician/provider teams, staff from the Emergency Department, Inpatient and Ambulatory areas, Strong Consult and Transfer Center, and Bed Management to ensure timely decision-making relative to disposition and care needs of people requiring inpatient placement. Assists with the assignment of medical providers to medical service inpatient admissions. Using clinical judgment and reviewing care needs, assigns patients to appropriate unit(s). Discretionary skills, critical thinking and excellent communication are essential to act as a liaison between physicians/providers and Bed Management staff in order to facilitate the admission of acute care patients. Professional demeanor and Strong Commitment behaviors are evident in all interactions. Works independently using critical thinking skills to address various situations across disciplines, as they arise. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in collaboration with all departments. Uses a team approach in all interactions and exemplifies leadership qualities. Facilitates inter-hospital transfers from outside hospitals and affiliate hospitals, into a UR Medicine facility. Serves as the main point of contact for referrals between physicians. Receives and maintains intake referrals and coordinates communication to the appropriate medical or surgical service, nursing, and receiving care areas. Coordinates with Financial Counseling and Admitting to ensure accurate patient registration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed Registered Nurse with current NYS registration and minimum 3-5 years recent acute care hospital or comparable experience. Possesses excellent communication and critical thinking skills. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent customer service skills. Strong computer and keyboarding skills required. Ability to type a minimum of 45WPM, preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $67,267 - $94,141 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
