Job Title: Controls Technician (12-Month Contract to Hire)Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Technician with a strong electrical background for a 12-month contract to hire position. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using AutoCAD Electrical, troubleshooting and editing PLCs, specifically Allen Bradley PLCs, and have experience with VFDs and timers. This role involves extensive travel, working closely with electricians, and overseeing the installation, testing, startup, and commissioning phases of projects.
Responsibilities
Utilize AutoCAD Electrical regularly and read electrical prints.
Troubleshoot and edit Allen Bradley PLCs, which constitute the majority of customer PLCs.
Work with VFDs and timers.
Conduct IO checkout and collaborate with electricians for installation.
Perform testing, startup, and commissioning of project phases.
Set up communication with other equipment, with some training provided.
Travel up to 80-90% of the time, particularly in the last two quarters of the year.
Work in the office and shop with engineering groups between travel periods.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
Experience in troubleshooting and editing Allen Bradley PLCs.
Ability to travel extensively.
Knowledge of VFDs, timers, and IO checkout processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in writing code for Allen Bradley PLCs.
Familiarity with robotic programming, including FANUC.
Background in robotics and design.
Capability to program from scratch.
Work Environment
The work environment varies between office, shop, and different travel locations. The headquarters facility is modern and up-to-date with large windows, collaboration stations, and a clean, temperature-controlled shop floor. Travel is primarily within the US, including Texas, the East Coast, and California. The company values flexibility, respects family time, and does not enforce mandatory overtime or scheduled hours. Employees are provided with a company card for travel expenses and receive travel pay via direct deposit.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
