Research Technician (Dengler-Crish) Position Type Research Department Pharmaceutical Sciences Full or Part Time Full Time Pay Grade BW3 Position Summary Information Summary Under direction of the Principal Investigator, assist in conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining laboratory and equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards.  Principal Functional Responsibilities Experimental Assistance and Safety: Collaborate with researchers to set up experiments and perform research projects. Execute experimental procedures with precision and attention to detail. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment. Follow ethical standards and regulatory requirements applicable to the research field.   Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratory in a clean and orderly manner. Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and promptly report any issues.   Data Collection and Analysis: Record and organize data generated from experiments. Assist in the analysis of experimental results using appropriate software and tools. Summarize findings and contribute to the preparation of research reports. Compile and update laboratory notebooks, databases, and electronic records with the detailed records of the experimental procedures, observations and results.   Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in any biomedical sciences related field or equivalent education and/or training. • No research experience required  Preferred Qualifications • One-year experience in a laboratory environment Physical Requirements Ability to collect and analyze experimental data which may include use of and handling experimental animals. Must be able to utilize applicable laboratory equipment necessary for the job, as well as a phone, computer and other office equipment. Department Specific Information This position offers an opportunity for candidates who are interested in gaining research experience in neuroscience/pharmaceutical sciences. The specific experience and exposure may be well suited for anyone wanting to gain research experience before continuing into a graduate program, medical or pharmacy schools. The role will support research studies investigating the mechanisms by which visual system function is disrupted in early Alzheimer's disease using experimental mouse models. Duties include breeding and maintaining experimental mice, conducting procedures with live experimental mice including injections, surgeries, and electrophysiological recordings, performing immunohistochemical assays and microscopy on brain tissue from mice.
