Eaton Corporation Mechanical/Design Engineer in Rumford, Rhode Island

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Mechanical/Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Rumford, RI facility. The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

Primary Function:

This role is a member of the Product Design Group and is a technical resource for new product development projects for aircraft systems, engines and other aerospace and industrial accumulator and seals applications. This role will perform project engineering work from preliminary specification to implementation, managing multiple phases of product design, analysis, development, and test to final customer approval; communicates expectations, plans and requirements, and also coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects. Serves as a consultant, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist various projects/processes. Contributes effectively towards team goals and influences the work group and works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge to support internal and external customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for moderately complex engineering projects. Works independently or with cross-functional disciplines on key tasks associated with a project. Interfaces with customers with some oversight.

  • Leads completion of ACES deliverables at the "minor" risk classification. Applies established engineering processes to complete project requirements and participates in process improvement efforts.

  • Works with Manufacturing and Quality engineering to provide technical support for production issues within the factory as well as at our suppliers.

  • Collaborates with analysts and challenges approach and results. Understands various boundary conditions and can handle analysis-led design changes (stress, thermal, fluid flow) using the analysis results.

  • Applies statistical and analytical tools towards effective problem-solving and completion of project activities.

  • Understands system level and sub-system/ component level requirements flow down.

  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers. This includes quick response to technical questions using experienced engineering judgment and/or simple analysis methods.

  • Performs preliminary structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance analysis for design validation.

  • Support Product Sales team in assessing risk and business opportunity for new product applications.

  • Participates on continuous improvement teams as Product Engineering representative. Work in team environment to meet plant driven metrics for quality, safety, delivery, performance, and inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution required

  • Minimum of 3 years Design/Systems Engineering experience

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Rumford, RI will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering

  • Ability to work in a lab and production environment requiring the use of safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection)

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 5 years of Aircraft Engine mechanical systems design experience

  • Bilingual in English and French

  • Greenbelt certification
