Position Overview
Position Objective: Inspect wood product on the Rough mill to maximize product yield.
Essential Duties:
Sort through material at the reject station.
Inspect material and determine whether it will be placed back on the line, scrapped, or sent through the re-ripped process at the Grizzly saw.
Place scrap boards on designated pallet and strap once pallet is at seventy (70) planks high.
Communicate quality or mechanical problems or concerns to supervisors, lead, or technicians.
Perform shift cleaning assignments.
Pick green straps up from the floor area
Place cleaning tools and supplies on shadow boards
Empty dust cans into dumpster
Ensure fencing is kept clear of all boards/planks
Assist in other areas as needed
Other duties as requested by Lead or Supervisor
Non-Essential Duties:
Maintain clean and safe work area
Must be a team player
Take an active role in committees
Cross train for other jobs in the Rough mill area.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop several times a day.
Must be able to stand for 8 – 12 hours a day.
Must be able to climb stairs several times throughout the day.
Must be able to assist in lifting up to 50 lbs. several times a day.
Must be able to lift 25 - 30 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day.
Must be able to handle the stress of meeting goals and production requirements.
Must be able to visualize defects in the product.
Must be able to visualize color defects in the product.
Other Requirements:
Basic reading, writing, and math ability.
Must be capable of learning and performing additional operations
Must be capable of being trained on current computer systems and software.
Training Requirements:
On the job training
Must have all required training; OSHA, SAFE, SMS, plant specific, etc…
Tool, Equipment, & Material Requirements:
- PPE requirements are listed on JHA for this position.
Safety & Security Requirements:
Must comply with all required OSHA, SAFE, and plant specific safety rules and regulations.

Work Shift
8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to out-punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts PM
