St. Michaels Inn Maintenance Assistant in Saint Michaels, Maryland

Job Description Summary: Assists Maintenance Engineer with needed repairs in guest rooms and public areas. Assists in all preventive maintenance tasks, guest requests and exterior maintenance.

Job Tasks: As directed, polices exterior of building picking up trash and debris. Assists in completing all maintenance requests as received from front desk and housekeeping. Always prioritizes guest requests completing them in the same day as received whenever possible. Assists will all preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually. Assists in maintain exterior appearance of the property including cutting grass, weeding, edging and planting. As directed, cleans swimming pool understanding the proper process including testing chemical balance. May be required to perform other miscellaneous tasks - i.e. meeting room setups, carpet shampooing, luggage handle for groups, general cleaning, renovation tasks, etc. May be asked on occasion to performs all duties of a housekeeper (see job description). May be asked to strip rooms and/or transport dirty terry and linens to the laundry room to expedite their cleaning process. May be asked to deliver clean terry and linens to guest rooms. May clean public areas of hotel. Perform other duties as required or requested by management staff.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: Communicate with persons outside of hotel - communicate with persons outside of the hotel, representing the hotel to guests, the public in person, in writing, by telephone or by email in a professional manner consistent with the policies of the hotel. Communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates - provide information to supervisors, peers and subordinates in person, in writing, by telephone or by email in a professional manner consistent with the policies of the hotel. o Maintain a friendly, positive attitude with guests and employees. o Adhere to all policies, procedures and standards set forth by this department, the Hotel, and the management company. o Comply with all safety and OSHA requirements. o Maintain a professional and clean working environment. o Report to work as scheduled, in professional attire (Franchise/Guests, Inc. approved uniform) o Direct any questions or concerns to Maintenance Engineer.

This includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction. Language Skills - excellent spoken and written English communication skills. Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Required Skills: Equipment/Computer Expertise - Ability to operate a variety of tools and maintenance equipment including: electric sanders, drills, welders, and saws; plumbing snakes; PVC cutting tools and glues; multi-meter; interior/exterior painting tools and supplies; sheetrock repair/replacement tools; wallpaper tools; etc. Ability to perform minor roof repairs. Some computer experience preferred. Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material - Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Certificates/Licenses - Must obtain required franchise certifications within time frame allotted and must be willing to attend and participate in othe training seminars, webinars, etc. as required by hotel, franchisor, and the management company.

Trunk Strength - the ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing. Must be able to stand for several hours at a time. Wrist-Finger Speed - the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Lifting - the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 175 pounds. Climbing - must be able to climb ladders. May be asked on occasion to performs all duties of a housekeeper (see Abilities Required)

Special Abilities: Must be organized, dependable, able to work well independently, detail-oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and self-motivated. Must be able to adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
