Salamanca NY Family Support Assistant. Cattaraugus & Wyoming Counties Project Head Start. FT- SCOPE: 1.Reports to the Center Supervisor, accountable to Coordinator of Family and Community Engagement/ERSEA. 2.Overall responsibility for implementing the Family & Community Engagement, ERSEA, Health, Disabilities, Nutrition, Mental Health program areas for center based children in compliance with all policies, regulations and performance standards.
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.High School Diploma and a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field. Relevant work experience preferred. 2.Must have a valid drivers license and automobile available for work.
MAJOR DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Works closely and cooperatively with parents and staff to meet the goals and objectives of the performance standards. 2.Implements the Family & Community Engagement / ERSEA areas for center based children including, but not limited to, parent orientation, parent center groups, parent education activities, needs assessment, and referrals to social service agencies as needed. Acts as a liaison between the family and Head Start, makes home visits as required, makes parents aware of community services and facilitate their use. 3.Completes all Health and Disability duties required for assigned caseload. 4.Works with the classroom team to facilitate child development, and to discuss and plan for families. Monitor attendance on a daily basis taking corrective action as needed.
MISCELLANEOUS:
1.This is a job that makes limited physical demands from time to time; there may be evening work.
2.Must obtain and maintain certificate in First Aid and CPR.
3.Participate in Training.
4.Facilitate transportation for children and/or parents when available.
5.Other duties as assigned.
