JOB TITLE: Angel Child Care Assistant Teacher \$12-\$14/hr SUPERVISOR: Angel Child Care Associate Director DEPARTMENT: Child Care FLSA STATUS: Full-Time

SCHEDULE - Full Time, Monday through Friday. 38-40 hours per week. POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Angel Academy Coordinator, and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Salina Family YMCA, the Assistant Teacher supports and assists the Lead Teacher, provide direction and implementation for the program and classroom, and provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintain a clean and safe facility and always demonstrating professional conduct.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
  • Complete 16 hours of KDHE approved training.
  • Assist in supervision of the children, classroom, and all activities.
  • Helps to maintain a welcoming, clean learning environment.
  • Helps preserve the quality of supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Interacts with the children.
  • Attends any staff meetings and trainings required by the YMCA and Angel Academy Coordinator.
  • Follow all YMCA policies and procedures. Must sign the Salina Family YMCA Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Emergency Procedures, and Employee Handbook agreements.
  • Partner with the Church of the Cross staff to maintain a safe and clean facility.
  • All other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • This person must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid drivers license.
  • 6 months previous experience working with children.
  • Must be able to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Understand multiple family dynamics, their needs, as well as the needs of at-risk children.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to create a risk-free environment on a daily basis.
  • Needs to be able to make sound decisions based on factual information in regard to child development.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy-five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
  • Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
  • Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
  • Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Work in different temperature environments.
