Actalent Phlebotomist in Salina, Kansas
Phlebotomist:
Job Description:
Experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.
Properly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all physicians’ orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Package specimens for transport.
Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes.
Accurately follow different procedures outlined by specific protocols for specimen transport to maintain integrity.
Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Qualifications:
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed (as required in some states).
Minimum of 12 months’ work experience performing venipunctures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED.
0-2 years of experience.
Pay:
- $18-$20/hour
Shift:
- Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm
