Job Summary

Paid KUER Robert K. Avery Internship, 2024-2025. KUER 90.1, Utah’s largest NPR affiliate, is seeking an ambitious student for an intensive, year-long news and production internship.

The first half of this internship will take place in the fall semester at RadioWest, KUER’s premiere bi-weekly program. Starting in January, the second half will take place in KUER’s newsroom, assisting with coverage of the Utah’s Legislature 2025 general session

Responsibilities

  • RadioWest is KUER’s flagship, bi-weekly interview program.

  • The intern will learn behind-the-scenes radio production by providing administrative and technical support for the show.

  • Duties include audio editing, show research, listener services, social media, database management, audio archive maintenance and other tasks as assigned.

  • The position requires a commitment of 12-16 hours per week.

  • During spring semester, the intern will transition to KUER’s bustling newsroom. They will collect sound and produce stories for our daily news programs.

  • This internship may include several days a week at the Utah Capitol to support our legislative coverage and other projects to support newsroom and station operations as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior radio production experience is not necessary, but excellent computer and research skills, as well as a strong curiosity about the news, are essential.

  • Preferred applicants should be highly collaborative and open to feedback.

  • Students should be juniors or seniors, although highly experienced lowerclassmen may be considered. Students can be from any major. KUER is committed to building a culturally diverse workplace and strongly encourages all applicants.
