Job Summary

The Maintenance specialist will be responsible for performing essential maintenance and repair duties on equipment, machinery, appliances, utilities, buildings, facilities, fixtures, and systems. This role requires adherence to manufacturer specifications, proficiency in safety protocols, and proactive engagement in preventive maintenance tasks for air handling units (AHUs). The ideal candidate will demonstrate moderate computer proficiency and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform preventive maintenance on AHU filters and coils, including replacements and cleanings.

  2. Organize and oversee AHU filter changes and replacements campus-wide.

  3. Conduct routine maintenance tasks in mechanical spaces, such as cleaning, installing insulation, and painting.

  4. Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment as per manufacturer guidelines.

  5. Ensure timely completion of work orders under the direction of the Supervisor.

  6. Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify maintenance needs and ensure optimal performance.

  7. Transport supplies and equipment as required for maintenance operations.

  8. Collaborate with other tradesmen in the workshop to support maintenance activities.

  9. Pick up and deliver parts and supplies across the campus as needed.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs and individual capabilities.

  11. Demonstrate strong motivation and organizational skills, with a moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Minimum Qualifications

Four years relevant work experience in the applicable trades areas or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local building codes and standards; ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and be able to make mechanical sketches and drawings; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. Requires lifting and transporting heavy objects. A valid Utah Driver’s license may be required.

Preferences

This work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, or similar activities. Recurring lifting and carrying of moderately heavy items up to 100 pounds and above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to use hand and power tools may be required. The ability to hold, grasp, and manipulate small parts, speak clearly and effectively, and listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally and on paper may also be required. There may be risks that require special safety precautions and equipment.
