Job Description:

Engage with Design and Project engineering team members to develop and improve the products that drive our company’s growth. Work as a member of a cross-functional product development team to develop various products ranging from miniature electro-mechanical assemblies to large ground based systems. Hardware will range from the modification of existing and/or creation of new racks, shelters, enclosures, airborne and rack-mount chassis, cable routing, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs).

Essential Functions:

  • Produce fully constrained CAD models along with clear and concise engineering documentation to support key business initiatives and product introductions.

  • Contribute in detailed design reviews with other technical areas within the company and assist in bringing new products through the entire product life cycle: proposals, design, document, build support.

  • Work closely with the PCB Designers for MCAD/ECAD data transfer.

  • Develop and recommend solutions to design challenges.

  • Check and verify models, drawings and specifications for accuracy and adherence to established standards, accuracy, completeness and execution to company procedures.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends when required.

  • Special Requirements: Due to the nature of our work this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with 3-D Parametric Solid Modeling required (Siemens NX recommended) Experience with appropriate storage and maintenance of CAD files in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system (Siemens Teamcenter 9.1 or higher recommended).

  • Ability to independently interpret and apply the ASME Y14.5M 2009 Dimensioning and Tolerance Standard is required.

  • Ability to effectively translate CAD data (i.e. DXF, IGES, STP) required.

  • Experience with Family of Parts or Parent/Child modeling a plus.

  • Design experience with Open Standards: VITA, VME, PMC and mixed signal board design (RF and Digital), is preferred.

  • IDF/IDX file knowledge a plus.

  • Experience with DFMA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly) and DTC (Design to Cost) preferred.

  • Experience with traditional metal fab processes, capabilities, and limitations (sheet metal, mill, lathe, welding, etc.)

  • Must be proficient with Windows and PC applications (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
